RADURA comes to life in a residual urban space situated between the Vattenfall Wärme power plant—operating Berlin’s district heating system since 1927—the ICE Werk train maintenance facility, with an operational area of approximately 625,000 square metres, and Funkhaus Berlin, the former headquarters of DDR Rundfunk, the state radio and broadcasting institution of the German Democratic Republic.
We are accustomed to thinking of cities through the lens of density and solid construction.
RADURA is an experiment in radical politics that invites collective reflection on the notion of the urban clearing: negative space, liminality, provisionality, residue, and the Third Landscape.
Conceived as an ongoing research project, RADURA engages decolonial and anti-capitalist practices, activating embodied modes of relating to the landscapes we traverse.
