About

Gaia Ginevra Giorgi is an artist and researcher working at the intersection of performing arts and sound art. Her practice weaves together writing, sound, voice, and performative devices. From a feminist, ecological, and situated perspective, she develops investigative methodologies that engage with archives and landscapes—understood both as territories of manipulation and expressions of power, and as potential tools for counter-narratives—towards their affective and political rewriting. Her works often take shape as ephemeral habitats, spaces for embodied and radical imagination.

She is co-curator of the radio program Walk so silently that the bottoms of your feet become ears (Fango Radio) and currently artist-in-residence at Radio Raheem with the project Haunt. As a performance maker, dramaturg, and performer, she has contributed to numerous theatre and performance projects presented at institutions and festivals including Santarcangelo Festival, BASE Milano, Istituto Svizzero (Milan), TBA21–Academy (Venice), Short Theatre (Rome), Triennale Teatro (Milan), Romaeuropa, Lavanderie a Vapore (Turin), Fondazione Antonio Ratti (Como), Schlachthaus Theater (Bern), Espacio Fundación Telefónica (Madrid), Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, Barcelona Poesia, Das Weisse Haus (Vienna), La Biennale di Venezia, among others.

Her work has been featured in scholarly publications such as Voice (Castelvecchi Editore) by Caterina Tomeo, and Suono: la dimensione sonora del quotidiano tra arti visive, macchine, musica elettronica. Prospettive teoriche, pratiche e culturali (Connessioni Remote), edited by Claudia Attimonelli and Caterina Tomeo, with an essay by Giada Cipollone.

She holds a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Theatre and Performing Arts from IUAV University of Venice, with which she continues to collaborate. In 2023, she was Artist in Residence at Malagola – International Center for Voice Studies. In 2024, she was named among Exibart’s Emerging Artists and in 2025 she received Premio Vienna for the performance art, presented by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna and the University of Applied Arts Vienna / Angewandte Performance Laboratory.
